Although this page has nothing to do with fantasy football, I thought it would be interesting to include it in Fantasy Football Impact. I always seem to forget when a particular team was in the Super Bowl, so having this page included on this site keeps it handy for me. Maybe it will be useful to you, too. Enjoy!

Super Bowl Trivia Challenge Answers

  1. The Steelers have won the Super Bowl six times (1975, 1976, 1979, 1980, 2006 and 2009).
  2. The Browns, Jaguars, Lions and Texans have never played in a Super Bowl.
  3. The Jets have not been in a Super Bowl since Super Bowl III in 1969.
  4. Trick question! No team has a perfect Super Bowl win/loss record (minimum 3 Super Bowl appearances). The 49ers were 5-0 until they lost to the Ravens in 2013. The Ravens are now 2-0 (2001 and 2013). The Buccaneers, Jets and Saints are all 1-0.
  5. The Vikings and the Bills are both 0-4. The Broncos were also 0-4 until John Elway won back-to-back Super Bowls in 1998 and 1999.
  6. The Cowboys and Steelers have met in the Super Bowl three times (1976, 1979 and 1996). The Steelers won the two games in the 1970’s. The Cowboys won the game in 1996.
  7. The 49ers in 1990 scored 55 points against the Broncos.
  8. The Dolphins in 1972 scored only 3 points against the Cowboys.
  9. Super Bowl XXIX in 1995 with 75 points scored (49ers 49, Chargers 26).
  10. Super Bowl VII in 1973 with 21 points scored (Dolphins 14, Redskins 7).
  11. Super Bowl XXIV in 1990 with a 45-point margin of victory (49ers 55, Broncos 10).
  12. Super Bowl XXV in 1991 with a 1-point margin of victory (Giants 20, Bills 19).
  13. The Bills with four consecutive appearances – all losses (1991, 1992, 1993 and 1994).
  14. The Colts (Baltimore 1971 and Indianapolis 2007) and the Raiders (Oakland 1977 and 1981 and Los Angeles 1984).
  15. The Patriots with nine appearances. They participated in 1986, 1997, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2008, 2012, 2015 and 2017, winning five (2002, 2004, 2005, 2015 and 2017).
  16. The Jets (1969), Buccaneers (2003) and Saints (2010) won in their only Super Bowl appearances.
  17. The Chargers (1995), Titans (2000) and Cardinals (2009) lost in their only Super Bowl appearances.
  18. The Steelers with four wins (1975, 1976, 1979 and 1980). The 1980 Super Bowl was at the end of the 1979 season and therefore counted among the 1970’s. The Cowboys had the most appearances in the 1970’s with five (1971, 1972, 1976, 1978 and 1979) but won only two of the (1972 and 1978).

  22. The Green Bay Packers beat the Kansas City Chiefs (35 – 10).
  23. The Cowboys and Bills met in 1993 and 1994. The Cowboys won both games.
  24. Seven teams have won back-to-back Super Bowls and the Steelers did it twice. The Packers (1967 and 1968), Dolphins (1973 and 1974), Steelers (1975 and 1976, and 1979 and 1980), 49ers (1989 and 1990), Cowboys (1993 and 1994), Broncos (1998 and 1999) and Patriots (2004 and 2005).
  25. The New England Patriots were down 25 points (28 – 3) late in the third quarter of Super Bowl LI (2017), but came back to beat the Atlanta Falcons 34-28 in overtime. This was also the only game to go into overtime in Super Bowl history.
